During ten sessions held between April and June, leading professionals from the legal, academic and institutional backgrounds analysed topics such as the management and taxation of art collections, contracts in the art market, the obligations of private collectors, the looting and restitution of cultural property, and the role of national and international institutions in heritage protection.
The programme was further enriched by visits to leading cultural institutions, including the Mapfre Foundation, the Bank of Spain, the National Archaeological Museum and the Reina Sofía National Art Centre, enabling students to complement the academic sessions with first-hand experience of the institutions’ collections.
The closing session, held on 8 June, featured speeches by David Vilas Álvarez, State lawyer, and Isabel Izquierdo Peraile, director of the National Archaeological Museum. The closing ceremony and presentation of certificates were presided over by Salvador Sánchez-Terán, senior partner of Uría Menéndez; Carmen Páez Soria, undersecretary at the Ministry of Culture; and José María Segovia, president of the Professor Uría Foundation.
